| Challenge |
In 2002, Nutter McClennen made the decision
to relocate its Boston office to the City's growing Seaport
district. At the same time, the firm wanted to upgrade its
infrastructure and institute some high performance security
measures. For Nutter McClennen moving the IT infrastructure
for a workforce of nearly 500 staff in the course of a weekend
presented an enormous logistical and technical challenge. |

| Solution |
With a planning management team headed
by Applied Software Technologies, extensive and detailed "down
to the plugs in the walls" advanced planning was the
key to success. Consistent and regular communication and coordination
leading up to the move day kept everyone fully informed. As
the infrastructure was re-installed, servers were upgraded,
routers and switches were replaced and a firewall was added.
A team of temporary technicians assisted with workstation
setup. At the same time, Applied Software implemented a much-needed
anti-"spam" solution to monitor on a regular basis
the firm's unwanted email. To add flexibility to the solution,
Applied Software custom developed a reporting system, which
is delivered to every user twice/day. Each report details
every blocked message including when and why it was blocked.
This gives users a full view of their incoming messages, while
maintaining the needed protection. |

planning enabled business to resume as scheduled without
any time or information loss. |

needed protection from spam, while the custom reporting
solution offers transparency to users without sacrificing
security. It also saves tremendous amounts of technical
support time, which would otherwise be spent sifting
